My goal in a maternity session is to create portraits that will remind you of this special time for years to come.
WHEN SHOULD WE BOOK A SESSION?
For maternity sessions, the ideal timeframe for a session is between 30-36 weeks. My weekend dates and Fall dates book up fairly quickly, so it's best to plan accordingly if you are looking for those spots.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
Most of my clients choose to wear a long dress for part of the session and then change into a more casual option like jeans and a top. You don't have to bring two outfits, though, it's totally up to you. Simplicity is best. Try to avoid busy patterns. For example, you may want to include:
– Denim jeans with a bright tank top
– A romantic dress
– Accessories such as scarves, hats, etc.
WHAT IF WE ARE AWKWARD IN PICTURES?
Don't worry! My sessions are very relaxed and playful. Come with an open mind and prepare to simply enjoy some family time. I will guide you through the poses with lots of direction, but your main focus would be to hold hands with your loved ones, laugh at each other, play with your kids, and have fun :)
WHERE DO MATERNITY SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
My maternity sessions take place at either Discovery Park, Parsons Gardens, or the Seattle Arboretum. After years of shooting at parks all over Seattle and the East side, I figured I should only offer my favorite locations to my clients. I like to shoot maternity sessions at sunset or early morning, when the light is soft and the parks aren't packed.
HOW LONG DOES THE MATERNITY SESSION LAST?
The session usually lasts anywhere between 45 minutes.
